Media sources are interesting, don’t you think? Every month I have clients say to me, “Well, I read….” or “I heard…” and more often than not, whatever comes after those statements isn’t entirely true. I am actually reading an article right now that was posted on April 10th that says Medicare Advantage plan deductibles have increased in 2025 from $134 to $312. What???

We have 55 plan options in central Indiana and of these, only five have a deductible. And most of these are deductibles for things like being out of network or for Part A only. The most expensive deductible on medical costs in this area is $500.

I look at articles like this and ask myself, what is the intention of the writer? Why would they say these things? I’ve seen many people who are nay-sayers when it comes to Medicare Advantage plans. Most of them seem to have an agenda. Maybe they don’t like Medicare Advantage plans and are hoping to turn people away from them. Hard to know. What I do know is that these articles tend to confuse folks.

Now, in all fairness, because of the Inflation Reduction Act, the deductibles on Part D drug plans have increased. This is true whether with a stand-alone Part D plan (which is used with a supplement), or for the Part D within a Medicare Advantage plan. And on the stand-alone Part D plans the premiums are also up about 25%.

But this is not an increase on the deductibles of Medicare Advantage plans, but rather on Part D. Again, media sources are interesting, don’t you think?  They seem to make things more confusing.

My recommendation is, don’t listen to the mob of voices in the media. Adams Insurance LLC has over two decades of experience, and we can help you navigate the realities in Medicare. Bottom line, let us help you. Visit our website or call 317-606-5426.
